Our History
Joseph R. Daniel Sr. (Joe)
Founded in 1976 by Joseph R. Daniel (Joe), Culpeper Wood Preservers began as a local pressure treating company with a single location in Culpeper, Virginia. From humble beginnings, Joe set out to grow the business with the goal being to provide for his family. With hard work, a can-do attitude and a penchant for recognizing talent, not only was he able to provide for his family but many other families in the process.
In 1990, his son Josh joined him at the company and their shared vision has allowed Culpeper to grow and become one of the largest producers of pressure treated lumber in the United States.
Joe and Josh determined early on that “Together We Prevail.” From the very start, we always believed in taking care of each other, our customers, supply partners and employees like family. We never lose sight of the people who helped us along the way and got us to this place. We are forever grateful to and humbled by all and have maintained this guiding principle ever since.

Like most of our clients, Culpeper is a family-owned business guided by the principles outlined in the "Culpeper Commitment" and at the heart of this commitment is our people.
We are a leading manufacturer of pressure treated products to the residential, commercial, industrial and marine markets and employ more than 700 people. Culpeper's brand-name products are produced at our seventeen strategically located plants and sold exclusively through lumber dealers throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Mid-West and South.
